He lives and works between New York and Le Muy in France. He was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 2005 and created the Venet Foundation in 2014, which serves as a museum and archive for his work. 1997 was the year he moved to a new studio in New York's Chelsea district, and began the series of Arcs x 4 and Arcs x 5, of which the work being auctioned is a part. In 2008, he was the first artist to have a solo exhibition at Sotheby's, on the lawns of the Isleworth Country Club, near Orlando, Florida. From January to April, 25 monumental sculptures showcase his work of the last twenty years and his most characteristic themes. In 2019, he installs and inaugurates the Arc majeur at kilometre 99 on the A4/E411 motorway in Belgium between Brussels and Luxembourg. A monumental sculpture 60 metres high, considered to be the largest contemporary steel sculpture in the world. The Arc majeur is both a work of art and a technical feat.
