Fine Classic Art Auction Succession de Mr G & à divers
We'll be continuing on Sunday November 19th at 2pm with a fine collection of paintings by Luxembourg and
French
artists
, antique furniture and 19th-century sculptures
.
There's no doubt that our Luxembourg collectors of old paintings will be captivated by the painting we'll be offering in lot 24, which is an original and authentic work by the Luxembourg artist: "Roger Gerson", with this monumental painting depicting the Petrus valley, offered at the time in a Gründ café and bought back by the deceased from the café owner at the time.
Jacques Bircklé (1734-1803) was a conscientious cabinetmaker, who never sought luxury or preciousness, but rather decorative effect. Bircklé excelled in this field thanks to his talent as a marker, obtaining his Maîtrise on July 30, 1764 and becoming a furniture supplier under Louis XVI.
Lots 71 and 72 of this Sunday's auction feature two exceptional paintings by Léon Spilliaert, a wonderful opportunity to get under the skin and into the mind of this tormented Belgian symbolist. Two works on paper that perfectly illustrate the landscapes of northern Belgium.
In this autumn season, lovers of 19th-century animal sculptures will be well served with a dog at rest by Georges Gardet, a gilded bronze officer on horseback, an attacked stag by Barye and finally a remarkable dog hunting small game by Delabrierre.
We will conclude this weekend's sale with a beautiful Art-Deco salon comprising a sofa, two armchairs and a coffee table, and for the musicians, a Yamaha piano sold a few years ago by the Luxembourg firm Kleber, which has specialized in pianos since 1872.
