REPORTER - CORONAVIRUS
For this new session, we will present you an important succession of an art lover with a capital A, former anaesthetist at the CHL of Strassen. So great a collector of beautiful things, that we will organize his estate in two parts. The more classical part at this sale on 28 March 2020 and the more contemporary part on 26 April 2020.
Like any self-respecting Luxembourger, a beautiful collection of works by Luxembourg artists will be presented. Artists such as Beckius, Freimann, Steffen, Biwer, Eugéne Mousset or Joseph Oth will be able to find new buyers. Just like the magnificent drawing by Auguste Trémont, the great Luxembourg painter and sculptor who made Luxembourg shine during the Universal Exhibition of Art and Techniques in Paris in 1937. No one today can ignore the greatness of his talent as witnessed by the imposing and emblematic pair of lion adorning the entrance to the Luxembourg City Hall.
We will also have the honour of presenting for sale a rare and exceptional collection of old drawings from the 17th and 18th centuries. Sketches and master proofs in pen and ink, some enhanced with gouache. Magnificent quality drawings of the Italian, Spanish or Flemish Schools.
Finally, to finish this first pictorial part we will go to the canebière to meet the famous and not the least Adolphe Monticelli with a very pretty oil "Faust, Margherita" in a beautiful state of conservation with its original frame.
To continue and finish with this very beautiful first part of the estate, we will present prestigious furniture and objets d'art from the 18th and 19th century, to finally close on an exotic note with a set of pieces of Art from Asia.
