With the announcement of spring, our auction house will have the pleasure to meet you again to present you a new Estate auction sale proposing very beautiful furniture and objects of Classical Art from the XVIII, XIX and XXth centuries, the fruit of years of passionate research by a true collector.
Thus, we will have the privilege to offer you at auction an admirable set of vases from the Nancy Gallé and Daum factories in very beautiful states of preservation, but there is no doubt that the star will be stolen by Emile Gallé's sympathetic Cat and his emblematic smile in lot 111.
We will continue with a charming bestiary from the house of Herend, an impressive collection built over the years by this true wildlife enthusiast.
It will not have escaped the history buffs that you are, that we are commemorating this year the bicentenary of the death of Napoleon Bonaparte, this mythical character of French history but with a European impact. On this occasion, we will present an exceptional chest of drawers by Alexandre Maigret (lot 204) in mahogany in the purest and finest Empire style with remarkable chiselled gilt bronze ornamentation.
A fine selection of Empire style furniture will also be auctioned such as a library, a very large planter, a secret pedestal table and very elegant clocks.
Asian objets d'art will also be honoured, such as the magnificent finely carved red coral in lot 98 and the very rare Japanese Boutsoudan from the Edo period of the 18th century, marvellous in quality and in an excellent state of conservation, which you will find in lot 94. A nice selection of ivories as well as Chinese snuffboxes will also be presented.
Finally, in these gloomy times which we unfortunately cannot get used to, our late collector will put a smile back on our faces with his collection of Clown paintings, mostly by Luxembourg artists such as Pierre Berchem, Joseph Kutter or Josy Klein.
