Double-sided "Minister" desk in the Louis XV style by Antoine KRIEGER (1804-1869)

Lot 290 - In veneered marquetry, opening to three drawers in the waist and three simulated drawers on the visitor's side, with ormolu top trimmed in havana leather, resting on four curved legs with claw hooves.
Rich ormolu ornamentation.
Stamped on the drawer and on the mould: "KRIEGER".
Use and maintenance restorations.

Originally from the Bas-Rhin region of France, Krieger moved to Paris with his brother Nicolas around 1826. In 1850, the company became Antoine Krieger et Cie. He executed all plans and drawings, and won a medal in London in 1852. At the 1855 Universal Exhibition, he presented a carved-panel dresser with a medallion depicting deer hunting.
