François Schortgen, born on October 11, 1935 in Esch-sur-Alzette, began painting at the age of 13. In 1954, he moved to Alaska and then to Canada's Far North, a move that would greatly influence his artistic signature. An avid traveler, he never ceased to be inspired by the landscapes he observed in Greenland, Japan, China, Korea... He has exhibited widely, both in Luxembourg and abroad, earning him international recognition.
