Georges Marconnet (1876-1958) French painter Framed... - Lot 65 - Lux-Auction
Georges Marconnet (1876-1958) French painter Framed oil on canvas. Signed lower right. Restoration of use and maintenance. 20th century period Dimensions: H: 45; W: 73 cm Born in 1876, Georges Marconnet is the son of modest peasants. Very early on, he showed a pronounced taste for drawing and thanks to the support of his family and friends, he entered the college "cuvier de Montbéliard" where he specialised in drawing. His pugnacity enabled him to enter the Besançon School of Fine Arts and then passed the entrance exam to the Paris School of Fine Arts. Nevertheless, conscious of not being able to make a living from his art, Georges Marconnet creates a funeral monument company with his wife. In his spare time, he devoted himself to painting and exhibited for the first time in Paris in 1927. In 1931, he is received at the "salon des artistes français", it is then that the French State and museums acquire several works. In 1938, he was invited to exhibit his works in the United States where he was again a great success. Today, Georges Marconnet's works are exhibited in several French museums and many international private collections.
