This estate of a major Luxembourgish collector, Mr Y, will feature a fine selection of high-end jewellery at the start of the auction, including previously unseen Luxembourgish and international pieces, contemporary and modern post-war paintings, as well as beautiful classic French furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries, and finally works by some of the great 20th-century designers.

The jewellery section begins with Cartier, featuring a beautiful American-style wedding ring and a lovely ladies’ watch in 18K (750) rose gold set with a row of six brilliant-cut diamonds. Also on offer is ‘Attrape-moi si tu m’aimes’ from the renowned house of Chaumet, not to mention a pair of ‘Fil de Camélia’ clip-on earrings from Chanel.

Let’s continue with Luxembourgish artists: Jeannot Bewing, Will Lofy, Patricia Lippert, André Haagen, Mars Schmit, Junius, Jeanette Bremin, and a rare original oil on canvas by Robert Brandy, signed and dated ‘76’.

We continue with international artists, featuring several lithographs by: Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Yayoi Kusama, Roy Lichtenstein, and an original painting by the Icelandic artist Erró.

We shall conclude this auction with a highlight from the world of antique furniture: an exceptional Louis XIV console table attributed to BEFORT JEUNE from the 19th century.
A similar piece sold for €46,250.00 on Sunday 15 September 2019 at Lux-Auction.
Mathieu Befort, known as Befort Jeune(1813–1880), cabinetmaker, son of the cabinetmaker Jean-Baptiste Befort (died 1840). He had his workshop at 1 and 6 Rue Neuve-Saint-Gilles in Paris from 1844 to 1880. Like his elder brother Bernard, he specialised in the production of furniture featuring Boulle marquetry or rosewood, richly decorated with bronze fittings. His work was consistently characterised by its high standard of craftsmanship, and he became the official supplier to Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie. (A similar piece is illustrated on pages 47–49 of the book *Le Mobilier français du XIXème siècle*)
